Harish Rawat demands expulsion from Congress after being accused of selling tickets

new Delhi: Congress general secretary and chairman of the party’s election campaign committee in Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat, on Tuesday demanded expulsion from the party.

Harish Rawat is facing allegations of selling tickets for the assembly elections, in which the party was badly defeated.

“The allegations are serious. They become more serious considering the fact that the person against whom they have been leveled was the Chief Minister, PCC President and AICC General Secretary.

Rawat said in a Facebook post, “The accuser also holds a responsible position in the party. Allegations have been leveled against me. I pray that I be expelled from the party in light of these allegations.”

Earlier, the state Congress chief had claimed responsibility for the party’s defeat in the recently concluded Uttarakhand Assembly elections. As chairman of the Congress Party’s campaign committee, Rawat had apologized to each and every member of the working committee and the leadership.

Talking to news agency ANI, Rawat had also revealed that the party was hoping for victory in the state.

“We all thought that we are winning in Uttarakhand… Being the chairman of the campaign committee, I take the responsibility of the defeat. I apologized to every member and leadership in the working committee. I have apologized to the public in the past as well. , Rawat was quoted as saying by ANI.

BJP has managed to retain its power in Uttarakhand by winning 47 seats. The Congress, which is relying on an anti-incumbency wave against the state government, won just 19 seats in the 70-member state assembly.

After the defeat of the Congress in the Uttarakhand assembly elections, the process of accusations and counter allegations against each other has started.
