New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government will launch a mega vaccination campaign against the coronavirus disease next month under the ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Wednesday that the government has decided that health workers will go door-to-door for the next one month to vaccinate those eligible for the second dose and those who have not received the first dose.
Mandaviya made the announcement after holding a meeting with his counterparts and representatives of states and union territories.
Mandaviya, who discussed scaling up the vaccination drive in the country, said that 77 per cent of the eligible population in India has been vaccinated against Covid-19 with the first dose.
“32 per cent people have received both the doses,” he said, reported ANI.
Stating that over 10 crore people have not taken the second dose of the Covid vaccine, Mandaviya said those eligible for the second dose should take the vaccine and urged everyone to complete their course.
As part of the nationwide immunization drive, the central government is supporting the states and union territories by providing them free covid vaccines.
In the new phase of universalisation of the Covid-19 vaccination campaign, the Center will procure and supply (free of cost) 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country to states and union territories.

The Union Health Ministry said in a release that so far more than 107.81 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the states and union territories through the Government of India (free channel) and direct state procurement category.
12.37 crore in the release and unutilized Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and union territories to be administered.
