The operator of a factory here was arrested on Sunday, a day after an explosion at the unit killed 13 and injured 20, police said. After the blast, Wasim had fled from the factory premises. A senior police officer said that he had burns on his hands and stitches on his head, after the incident he was given first aid and took off.

Superintendent of Police Deepak Bhukar told PTI-language, ‘The operator was arrested from Hapur-Meerut bypass on Sunday afternoon. “We are providing him with medical treatment,” he said. Police said an FIR has been registered against the owner and operator of the factory.

A blast took place at Ruhi Industries in Dhaulana area on Saturday. “Till now, 13 people have been killed, while 20 have been injured. The injured are being treated at various hospitals in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Meerut.

He said that of the 13 dead, 11 have been identified, and they are from Shahjahanpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Bihar. Bhandari village of Shahjahanpur district, located 280 km from Hapur, was plunged into shock as soon as the news of the blast was received.

Shahjahanpur Superintendent of Police S Anand told PTI.
