Happy Birthday Ritu Varma: Here are some lesser known facts about her

Actress Ritu Varma has managed to impress both Telugu and Tamil audiences with her delightful screen presence. The Hyderabad-born beauty consistently performs well in almost every film of hers.

One of the most sought-after female actors down south celebrated her 32nd birthday on Wednesday (March 9) and on this special occasion, here are some lesser known facts about the beautiful girl.

Ritu played supporting roles in her early days in the industry, before gaining fame and recognition with the National Award winning film Pelli Chopulu.

Not many people know that Ritu is not of Telugu origin. Born on 9 March 1990 to residents of Madhya Pradesh, the actor was brought up in Hyderabad. He completed his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Malla Reddy Engineering College.

Later, she participated in the Miss Hyderabad beauty pageant and won the title of first runner-up. At the event, director Tharun Bhaskar spotted Ritu and decided to cast her in his short film Anukokunda. The 10-minute clip, made in 48 hours, was also shortlisted for the Cannes Film Festival and won Ritu the Best Actress Award in 2012.

Ritu made her silver screen debut with Badshah, in which she played a friend of Kajal Aggarwal.

Later, she starred in Prema Ishq Kaadhal, and Yevade Subramaniam, for which Ritu also won a nomination for Best Supporting Actress at IIFA.

In 2014, she made her debut in the small budget film Naa Rakumarudu with Naveen Chandra in the lead role.

After gaining fame, Ritu acted with actors like Vijay Deverakonda, Nani and Nikhil. She was last seen romancing Nani in Tak Jagdish directed by Shiv Nirvana. Her long-delayed Dhruv Nachtiram opposite Chiyaan Vikram is also pending a theatrical release.
