Since 1984, when Ramya Krishnan made her debut, she has managed to stay relevant and become a trendsetter of sorts. One of the most popular actresses of the country, Ramya has worked with many top stars in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu language films. In a career spanning over three decades, the talented actress has delivered stellar performances and continues to make eclectic choices.
With a confident screen presence as her calling card, interestingly Ramya’s distinctive voice was not perceived as good by the filmmakers when she debuted. Her career, replete with many memorable roles, saw its peaks and plateaus, however, Ramya returned each time with a new look or character.

Padayappa (1999)
It is hard to come across an artist who makes an opposing performance so impressive that it remains etched in memory for years. Ramya Krishnan’s negative role in Padayappa can be considered as one of the greatest villains played in the last few decades.
Rajinikanth came face to face with Ramya’s mighty Nilambari, whom no one could control. The jaw-dropping performance won the actress the Filmfare and Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actress. She made good use of her dancing skills in the film and made a stunning optical with her power packed acting skills.
Panchathantiram (2002)
Remember Ramya’s Maggi and her gleeful laugh? Just like his real-life personality, the character was passionate and unique. Maggie aka Maragathavalli is a call girl hired by Ram to get rid of his wife. She considers him to be a feminist and what happens after that changes Ram’s life.
Maggie falls dead as a result of which Ram along with four of his friends gets embroiled in a murder mystery. The actress lends a glamorous but deadly villain quotient to the character.
Baahubali: The Beginning and Conclusion (2015 and 2017)
Ramya will be remembered for many years to come as the majestic and fiery queen Rajmata Sivagami Devi in the SS Rajamouli epic franchise. After several notable roles, Ramya gained global recognition for her portrayal as Rani and a loving mother. Ramya’s scintillating performance left the audience at a loss for words and created a ruckus all over the world.
Super Deluxe (2019)
Ramya shares screen space with Vijay Sethupathi in this much-acclaimed drama. Fahadh Faasil, Samantha Akkineni, Maskin and Gayatri also starred in supporting roles. Ramya, who played a porn star in a Tamil film, admitted that it was one of the most challenging roles in her career.
A former actress who failed to make it big tried her hand at soft porn for a living. Hands on to each and every member of the cast for giving top performance in the film. Ramya, in a welcome departure from her previous roles, cast a spell in Leela that was too hard to judge.
Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam (2009)
Ramya, as Rajya Lakshmi, was a caring and appreciative mother. Ramya displayed her maternal charm on screen in a pleasant and simple way and did a beautiful job. He won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu for his performance.
