Bohag Bihu, also known as Rongali Bihu, marks the beginning of the Assamese New Year and is one of the most important festivals for the people of Assam. It is a seven day festival which usually falls in April. This year, it is starting from 14th April and will end on 20th April. Each day of the festival has its own significance and is celebrated in different ways. The harvest festival celebrates nature and its grace and people pray and wish each other for a prosperous new year. Kati Bihu or Kongali Bihu is celebrated in October which marks the end of sowing and transplanting of plants.
