Ex-Pakistan cricketer urges PCB to take Lessons from India

Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman lauded Team India, terming Rohit Sharma a class leader.

Pakistan’s cricket fraternity has also congratulated India on an emphatic win over South Africa in the T20 World Cup 20 final on Saturday. Wishes have been pouring in on social media since Rohit Sharma & Co. hoisted the Indian flag in Barbados. But at the same time, the ex-cricketers and fans from the neighbourhood are also hoping for their team to reunite and learn something from India.

Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman lauded Team India, terming Rohit Sharma a class leader. He further urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief Mohsin Naqvi to save the nation’s cricket from ‘rotten eggs’.

“When everyone is honest, selected on merit, play for the badge on the chest, and play to win, they become champions. Rohit Sharma is a class leader. Dear @TheRealPCB and @MohsinnaqviC42  sahab, save Pakistan cricket from the rotten eggs. Learn from India. Watch their emotions,” Zaman said.

In his next post, Zaman compared the differences in emotions in the Indian and Pakistani players. The former cricketer alleged that the Pakistani players cry for captaincy but the Indians are in tears after winning the World Cup.

“Hamarey players Kaptani kai liye rorahai hain. Indian players World Cup jeet kai rorahai hain. Yeah hota hai Jazba,” he wrote further.

Zaman, in his last post since India’s triumph, further took a dig at Pakistan’s coaching system and compared it with India’s. Earlier, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke with the likes of Rahul Dravid, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli after the win. While Dravid ends his stint as the Indian head coach, Kohli and Rohit announced their T20I retirements.

India end the ICC title drought

Rohit Sharma was emotionally overwhelmed leading India to their second T20 World Cup triumph. It also ended an 11-year wait for an ICC silverware since MS Dhoni’s team lifted the Champions Trophy in 2013. This excitement and joy had a tinge of sadness to it as Rohit and Kohli announced their retirement from the format.
