Halsey celebrates postpartum body in new album cover shoot – Times of India

Halsey recently unveiled the revolutionary cover art for her fourth music album ‘If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power’ on her Instagram page.

The bisexual singer has stunned the internet with this alluring cover shoot. Halsey set out through this cover to spread awareness about the beautiful and ugly truth of a pregnant body and that there is no reason to be ashamed and proud to acknowledge the changes going on in a mother’s body. The cover of her album depicts the gift of giving birth as the Madonna and prostitute dichotomy.

Sitting on a glittering golden throne, the ‘Without Me’ singer looked divine wearing a vintage luxe gown showing off her baby bump. Her royal crown and gold-studded nails which she adorned like a real queen were her only belongings. Her brown hair was curly, but looked artistic with an attractive crown. Holding a darling baby securely in one hand while tethering her breasts to the world, the singer looks not only powerful but dynamically compelling.

In the world of fashion, this look has opened new doors for every fashion lover. One could call this look controversial but for thousands of her fans, this look is liberating, accepting and radical. This avant-garde painting is a harbinger of a new era.

Halsey first revealed the artwork from the Metropolitan Museum of Art on her Instagram live stream. She also captioned the picture on her official account and declared, “This album is a concept album about the joys and horrors of pregnancy and childbirth. It was very important to me that the cover art conveyed the spirit of my journey over the past few months. The bifurcation of the Madonna and the prostitute. The idea that I as a sexual being and my body as a vessel and my gift to the child are two concepts that can coexist peacefully and powerfully. My body has been related to the world in many different ways over the years, and this image has been my means of reclaiming my autonomy and establishing my pride and power as a life force for my human being. ”

She continued, “This cover image celebrates the pregnant and postpartum body as something beautiful, which is to be admired. We have a long way to go in eradicating the social stigma surrounding the body and breastfeeding. I hope this can be a step in the right direction!”.

His new album is set to hit streaming services and local stores on August 27, 2021.
