Security has been beefed up around the Gyanvapi mosque complex as the court-appointed committee begins the survey for the second consecutive day. Lawyers and representatives of Hindus have also reached the site.

According to lawyers Harishankar Jain and Vishnu Jain, today, the survey will be conducted in those areas of the mosque which, according to them, used to be a part of the temple.

The western wall of the Gyanvapi complex, where, even today, the remains of Hindu temple demolition are visible and whose pictures are the biggest proof, will be surveyed. For this, the fourth lock was opened today, while the first three rooms were opened during the survey yesterday,

Meanwhile, Court Commissioner Vishal Singh said that the survey is being conducted peacefully. The survey is likely to end today.

According to the lawyers representing the Hindu side, many things were revealed in the survey yesterday that people have not known about to date.

Last week, the survey was stalled amid objections by the mosque committee, which claimed that the advocate commissioner appointed by the court did not have the mandate to film inside the premises. The committee accused him of bias and filed a plea for his replacement.

The district court, however, rejected the plea and ordered the completion of the task by May 17, Civil Judge (Senior Division) Ravi Kumar Diwakar also dismissed objections to the opening of the two closed basements in the mosque complex for the survey.

The Gyanvapi mosque is located close to the iconic Kashi Vishwanath temple and the local court is hearing a petition by a Delhi-based group of women seeking permission for daily prayers before the idols of Hindu deities on its outer walls.
