Gurugram sees 288 new Covid cases & 1 more death | Gurgaon News – Times of India

GURUGRAM: The city reported 288 new cases on Tuesday, a rise of 11% compared to the previous day (259 cases). With this, it now has 1,452 active cases. The daily positivity rate rose to 7.6% from 7.2% on Monday.
Gurugram also reported a Covid death on Tuesday – a 69-year-old man who was admitted with fever, cough and shortness of breath to a private hospital on August 16. The patient had tested positive at the hospital and had comorbidities like diabetes, chronic kidney disease, coronary artery disease and hypothyroidism. Before this, August 17 was the last time that the city registered a Covid death.
“The patient was given fluids, antibiotics, oxygen support and other supportive measures. He was on oxygen support. The patient suddenly had a cardiac arrest. CPR was initiated but he could not be revived,” a doctor at the hospital said.
A total of 88 people have succumbed to the infection this year alone, while the total toll since the Covid outbreak has touched 1,017. Of these, 691 had comorbidities.
Meanwhile, 62 Covid patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals at present (4.4% of active cases), while the rest are in home isolation. Gurugram has so far added 8,855 cases to its tally this month.
As many as 3,753 tests were conducted on Tuesday, while 3,556 tests were carried out the day before. Health officials urged people not to venture out if they have flu-like symptoms. “We are monitoring all hospitalised patients on a regular basis. People who have mild symptoms are recovering within three to four days, while others who are immunocompromised are taking more time to recover. Such people need to take more precautions,” said Dr Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer, Gurugram .
Haryana, meanwhile, witnessed 578 new cases on Tuesday. The state now has 3,184 active cases, of which 3,024 patients are in home isolation. The positivity rate is 4.7%. Two deaths were reported in the state.
