On Tuesday, 150 Kovid patients were also cured in the city.
Tuesday’s new infection count is half of the total number of Covid cases reported in the city last month (1,264).
The district administration has declared 20 new containment zones in the city. The city now has 41 containment zones, where additional containment protocols will be followed, such as sanitisation and screening. Patients in home isolation have been geo-tagged with their phone numbers, and officials said police would monitor their movement to stay at home.
Anticipating hospitalisation, the health department on Tuesday dried oxygen plants at Civil Hospital, Sector 10. “We have added 44 beds to the Covid ward in the hospital and did a dry run of oxygen. Chief Medical Officer Dr Virendra Yadav said, “Plant saplings in the hospital so that we do not come to the rescue in any emergency.”
According to officials, the city needed about 60 tonnes of oxygen daily during the second Covid wave. At the peak of the pandemic in May, major city hospitals relied on plants in Gujarat and Rajasthan for liquid oxygen supplied in tankers and even trains.
There were then three oxygen booster plants in Gurugram. There are now 24-12 of them in private and government facilities in the city. Each of these can produce 1500 liters per minute (LPM) of oxygen. Ten of them can each produce 1,000 lpm. The remaining capacity is 500 lpm.
The Health Department informed that on containment zones, one can be notified after two weeks if there is no further increase in cases.
