A court in Haryana’s Gurugram district has sentenced four policemen for illegally extorting money after implicating a cafe operator in a false case. The court has sentenced one policeman to five years and three to three years’ imprisonment. Along with this, a fine of 40-40 thousand rupees has also been imposed on the guilty policemen.

Let us inform that on September 3, 2009, the crime branch-46 team raided Hansraj Rathi’s cyber cafe in Rajiv Nagar area and claimed that fake voter cards and ID cards are made in the cafe. The team that carried out the raid included SI Ramdayal, constables Sunil, Rajesh and Vinod. The team had detained Hansraj Rathi and his two employees Rajendra and Narendra from the cafe. Meanwhile, a demand of Rs 1 lakh was made by the police.

On September 5, showing the action of Raid for not paying the money, a case was registered against the three at the Civil Lines police station and they were sent to jail. In November 2019, all three got bail from the court. When Hansraj reached the cafe after bail, the seal was seen. Hansraj took refuge in the court and got the cafe opened.

CCTV has revealed the secret
When Hansraj first checked the CCTV cameras installed in the cafe as soon as the seal was opened, his footage captured the entire incident of 3 September, while the police showed the raid on 5 September. Taking this as the basis, after collecting the evidence, Hansraj sent a complaint to the CID Chief. Also told that his cafe was raided on 3rd September, while the police showed the raid’s action on 5th September.

Meanwhile, when a high-level inquiry was conducted into the matter, Hansraj’s complaint was found to be true. The investigating officer, holding the policemen guilty, recommended registration of a case against them. Following the recommendation, all four were suspended. Among the accused, Ram Dayal has retired.

These four accused were punished
The then SI Ramdayal, constables Sunil, Rajesh and Vinod have been sentenced by the district court of Gurugram. In this, SI Ramdayal was sentenced to five years, while the other three were sentenced to three years each. Advocate NK Jain of the complainant in the case told that the district court has convicted all four of illegal extortion, illegal detention, filing a false case and assault.
