Gurgaon: 28 new cases were reported in the city COVID-19 on Thursday, who took the number of active case Up to 139, the most in about six months. The last time the city had more than 135 active cases was on June 27 when it was 136.

“It is time people got serious about following the COVID protocol, wearing masks and avoiding gatherings. But people should follow the Covid protocol,” said Gurgaon Chief Medical Officer Dr Virendra Yadav.
Currently, there are nine containment zones in the city, a number that is expected to increase over the next few weeks as additional restrictions are considered in anticipation of a possible increase in cases driven by the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV2.
In the last 24 hours, 4,771 tests were conducted in the city, of which 586 were rapid antigen tests and 4,185 were RT-PCR tests. Of the 139 patients who have recovered from COVID, 136 are in home isolation and three are in a dedicated COVID-19 hospital or a health centre.
Meanwhile, a total of 8,911 people were vaccinated on Thursday. Of these, 7,569 were in the age group of 18-44 and the rest were above 45 years of age. The number of first doses in this was 1,861. The Health Department will set up 82 fixed session sites on Friday to vaccinate people. The first and second doses of Covishield will be given at 74 sites, the second dose of Covaxin will be available at six health centres, and the second dose of Sputnik V will be available at Sector 31 Polyclinic. People going abroad for work or studies can also visit polyclinic for second dose of Covishield.
