Gurgaon Police has arrested the woman who filed 8 rape cases against 8 people on charges of extortion.

Gurgaon Police on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old woman for allegedly extorting money from a man after he threatened to implicate her in a rape case if he refused to marry her or give her money.

Police said the woman has registered eight rape cases against eight different men in seven police stations of Gurgaon- Rajendra Park, Sadar, Cyber, Sector 5, New Colony, Sector 10 and City in the last 15 months. Closure reports have been filed in at least three cases. Police said an investigation has found that the woman’s mother and an uncle were also part of an alleged extortion “syndicate” and are absconding.

ACP Crime Preet Pal Sangwan said that an FIR was registered against the woman on charges of extortion and conspiracy on December 23, when a resident of Karnal lodged a complaint with the police that she was blackmailing him and asking him to marry her. or forcing him to pay. Pennies.

“She said that the woman had falsely filed a rape case against him at the DLF Phase 3 police station in October as he had refused to marry her. During interrogation, he claimed that he has registered eight rape cases in Gurgaon. Investigation has revealed that the motive was extortion and his mother and uncle are also involved in the syndicate. Some cases have been quashed and in other cases the allegations of rape leveled by her are being probed,” the ACP said.

In the FIR lodged against the woman, the complainant from Karnal alleged that he became acquainted with her when he rented a house owned by her relative in Gurgaon on October 15.

“He alleged that after exchanging numbers, the woman called him repeatedly and pressured him to get married. On 24 October, the man’s family met the woman, her mother and an uncle to discuss the matter. In the meeting, the woman and her family told her that she has registered several rape cases in Gurgaon and if he does not marry her immediately or settle money, she will file an FIR against him,” the ACP said.

Police said that on the same day the woman had filed a case of rape against him at the DLF Phase 3 police station. “She sent him an FIR on WhatsApp and the next day told her that if she agreed to marry him, she would make a medical excuse and not record her statement in the court,” the ACP said.

Police said that in most of the rape cases registered by the woman, it has been alleged that the accused raped her on the pretext of marriage.

On October 26, taking cognizance of multiple rape cases registered by the same woman, Haryana State Commission for Women had written to DGP Haryana Police requesting formation of an SIT to probe the matter thoroughly. In November, an SIT headed by DCP Headquarters Gurgaon was formed.

Police said that so far two people have filed a complaint of extortion against the woman.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Headquarters Aastha Modi, who is heading the SIT, said, “As per our investigation, out of eight rape cases registered by the woman, cancellation reports have been filed. In one case, the woman had turned hostile and did not record her statement in the court. In four cases, we have filed charge sheet and one investigation is on, and another case is under investigation. The two men have filed a case of extortion alleging that he blackmailed them to get married and filed a case against them on false charges.
