Gurgaon Muslim group moves Supreme Court regarding Namaz. India News – Times of India

Gurgaon: A Muslim organization has been formed recently in view of the repeated protests in the city. Prayer moved to public places Supreme courtDemands contempt action against state officials for failing to prevent disruption of Friday prayers.
Organization – Gurgaon Muslim Council, headed by the former Rajya Sabha Member Mohamed Adibi – has cited court orders on measures to “curb communal and violent tendencies resulting from hate crimes” in the Tehseen S Poonawalla v Union of India case in 2018 to seek action against the Haryana Chief Secretary . and Director General of Police.
The organization said it would take comprehensive legal steps which would include approaching the High Court on various aspects, such as insufficient space for offering prayers and non-availability of land to build a mosque.
The petition contends that the government has failed to comply with the Supreme Court’s directions, and the state machinery is in a state of inaction instead of taking effective measures to prevent disruption of prayers. The petition, filed by Adeeb, who lives in Gurgaon, states, “At present only certain elements are carrying out hate campaigns, the inaction of the police in stopping the said persons despite repeated prior intimations by the present petitioner and others is contempt. Is.”
In a 2018 hearing on mob violence, the Supreme Court had directed governments to take a three-pronged approach – preventive measures, remedial measures and punitive measures – to ensure that no group of individuals or organizations take the law into their own hands. Takes and identifies such tendencies. so that no untoward incident may happen.
Adeeb said Muslims in the city were offering Friday prayers peacefully and without any hindrance. He said that the Namaz is being held in open areas as no space has been allotted by the municipal authorities for it. “It is also pertinent to note that open spaces used for the limited purpose of offering Namaz are not in any way encroachment but are organized after approval from the concerned government authorities. For this purpose 37 places were designated.” They said.
