Gulshan Devaiah reacted to Prashant Narayanan’s alleged remarks about Ranveer Singh portraying a dark character in Padmavat.

Ranveer Singh’s vibrant persona isn’t just for the cameras, according to fellow actor Gulshan Devaiah. While discussing their time together on the set of Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Gulshan revealed that Ranveer’s high-energy, exuberant demeanor is consistent both on and off-screen. The pair have developed a “good professional relationship,” and Gulshan noted that some might perceive Ranveer’s lively nature as “attention-seeking.” He fondly recounted moments when Ranveer, after intense emotional scenes, would retreat to a corner to shed a few tears, showcasing his deep dedication to his craft.

During an engaging conversation with Siddharth Kanna on his YouTube channel, in response to Prashant Narayan’s remarks regarding Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of a “dark phase” during Padmaavat, Gulshan Devaiah emphasized the individuality of each actor’s approach to their craft. Shedding light on Ranveer’s emotional depth, Gulshan revealed moments from their time on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s set, where Ranveer would occasionally retreat to a quiet corner post an intense scene to let out his emotions.

Reacting to Prashant’s opinion, Gulshan quipped, “How does he know?” He continued, “He is a wonderful actor. But all I am saying is that we don’t know everything. We can form our opinion but we can be wrong about it. So how can one so sure that Ranveer is lying? Maybe he was affected. Who knows?”

Reflecting on their shared experiences on Bhansali’s film sets, Gulshan Devaiah opened up about witnessing Ranveer Singh’s emotional vulnerability. Recalling poignant moments from Ramleela, Gulshan disclosed that after particularly moving scenes, Ranveer would retreat to solitude and allow himself to express his emotions through tears. Contemplating on Ranveer’s post-scene reactions, Gulshan acknowledged, “On the sets of Ramleela, sometimes after doing an emotional scene, he would sit in a corner and cry. Now you can look at it as attention seeking, maybe it was. But maybe there is some truth to it also. Maybe he is unable to shake it off. I have seen him cry a couple of times.”

In the same interview, Gulshan also shared insights into Ranveer Singh’s boundless energy and vibrant persona. “He is very energetic. He has always been like this, extremely energetic. You can call it attention seeking but some people have that thing. He projects himself like a movie star and that’s because he believes he is a movie star,” Gulshan remarked.

For the unversed, Ranveer Singh’s portrayal of the menacing character of Khilji, his intense performance garnered significant attention and acclaim. In an interview, Ranveer candidly expressed the deep impact the role had on him, admitting to finding the character abhorrent and psychologically challenging. He confided in Sanjay Leela Bhansali about his apprehensions, acknowledging the potential for the role to consume him emotionally.

On the other hand, actor Prashant Narayanan, known for his roles in various films including Murder 2, Shadows of Time, and Waisa Bhi Hota Hai Part II, had contradicted Ranveer’s sentiments, labeling him as dishonest.

He previously shared, “Woh jhooth bol raha hai kyunki woh aisa koi mind-blowing actor nahin hai jahan pe ya woh aisa koi mind blowing role nahi hai ki jahan pe aapko itna karna pad raha hai. Nahi bhai. Tu apna set pe aa. Tera makeup hoiga acche se. Tu baas dil se kam kar. Yeh dark spaces mein jana, yeh saab karna yeh bakwas ki baatein hai. Kahin na kahin justify toh karna padega na kyunki itne saare karod rupayee mil rahe hai. Ki nahi nahi main pichle do mahino se serious tha. Kyun serious that? Aspatal mein tha kya?”
