In a first of its kind initiative, RJs on Radio 90 FM have been given training to speak in Sanskrit. These RJs pronounce Sanskrit words fluently to entertain the audience.
Dr. Rajeev Gupta, Managing Director, Sardar Sarovar Nigam Limited (SSNL) while celebrating World Sanskrit Day on Sunday said, “Sanskrit, the oldest language in the world and the pride of India, is a vast treasure trove of knowledge and has been respected across the world. . Inspired by PM Narendra Modi at the Statue of Unity, 15 male and female guides and radio jockeys speak immaculate Sanskrit after diligent training, he tweeted.
In the last few months, RJs, including three from the tribal community, have been trained to speak Sanskrit. “We had earlier trained the tour guide to speak Sanskrit. Out of them, we picked up four of them including three women and gave them further training on how to talk like RJs in Sanskrit and entertain the audience while giving information about SOUs and other tourist attractions,” the SOU spokesperson said. .
Till now RJ Neelam Tadvi, RJ Ganga Tadvi, RJ Guru Tadvi and RJ Hetal Patel, residents of Kevadia, are doing radio jockeys in Sanskrit and are also enjoying it. PM Narendra Modi last week also talked about these RJ tribal women and said, ‘The talent and potential of tribal women in our villages is impressive. I congratulate my tribal daughters as they have gained expertise and a professional touch in such a short span of time.’
The SOU spokesperson said the Sanskrit speaking RJs were given special training in handling radio equipment using hardware as well as software in the studio. They were also taught voice modulation and how to engage their audience on the radio.
