Gujarat to host 36th National Games from September 27 to October 10: CM Patel

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on Friday announced that the state will host the 36th edition of the National Games from September 27 to October 10.

State’s Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department’s Principal Secretary Ashwani Kumar said that this is the first time that Gujarat will be hosting this prestigious event.

Chief Minister Patel announced in a tweet this morning, “Gujarat will host the 36th National Games from September 27 to October 10. I am thankful to the IOA (Indian Olympic Association) for accepting Gujarat’s proposal to organize the event in the state.” took.”

He said that since Gujarat is well equipped with world-class sports infrastructure, the state administration will leave no stone unturned to make this edition of the National Games the best sporting event ever.

Minister of State for Sports Harsh Sanghvi expressed confidence that Gujarat will be able to host the mega event, though only three months are left for it.

He said that various sports events would be held in six cities namely Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.

“Over 7,000 top players from the country are expected to show their strength in over 34 disciplines including athletics, hockey, football, volleyball, lawn tennis, table tennis, judo, wrestling, kabaddi and indoor and outdoor sports like kho-kho. The minister said in a statement.

The last edition of the National Games was held in Kerala in 2015. Sanghvi said that the Games are now being organized after a gap of seven years due to various reasons including the pandemic.
