Gujarat: Man sentenced to death for rape and murder of minor, his mother Ahmedabad News – Times of India

Special Public Prosecutor in the case PN Parmar said, “The court convicted Harsahai for the sexual assault and murder of the minor and his mother. While Hariom was convicted for his alleged involvement in the murder and kidnapping.”
In its judgment, the court noted that the ‘dry tears’ found on the face of the deceased minor “show that she (minor) died a painful death”. The court further observed that “considering the increase in cases of sexual assault and murder of minors” should not be less than the death penalty for Harshahi.
A team of Crime Branch led by DCP Bipin Ahire; The case was investigated by ACP RR Sarvaiya and PI BN Dave. Surat Police Commissioner Ajay Tomar said, “Police completed the investigation in four years and ensured death sentence for the accused. A total of 43 witnesses and 120 documentary evidence were produced as part of the chargesheet.”
As per the details of the case, the bodies of a minor girl and a 35-year-old woman were found from the limits of Pandesara police station in April 2018. Later during investigation and confession by the accused it was revealed that they were mother and daughter. Their DNA profiling further established their connection.
In the postmortem of the minor girl, 86 injury marks were found on her body. When her body was recovered on 6 April, dry tears were found on the girl’s face, which was evidence of the girl’s torture. The investigation also revealed that the girl was subjected to cruelty for more than a week before she was murdered.
The brutal murder of an 11-year-old has sparked national outrage, with a team from the Ahmedabad Crime Branch also joining the investigation. The team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch caught Harshay and Hariom of Rajasthan. The accused had fled to their ancestral home in Rajasthan after killing both the mother and daughter.
