The MLAs became famous throughout Gujarat and India after raising issues of Dalit atrocities following the Una Dalit youth torture, while another youth leader Hardik Patel led the Patidar reservation movement, and youth icon Alpesh Thakor led the OBC rights movement. did.
Patel and Thakor had joined the Congress before the 2017 assembly elections, while Mevani contested as independent MLAs.

Patel is now serving as the President of Gujarat Congress. At the same time, Thakor resigned after winning as Congress MLA and joined BJP. Thakor lost the by-election.
Mevani said, “I have received an offer from Congress to join the party. I have met Rahul ji on several occasions.
