The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad raided a manufacturing unit on the outskirts of Vadodara city and seized a cache of banned MD drug worth around Rs 500 crore, an ATS official said on Wednesday.

The ATS also nabbed five people from the spot during a raid at the small factory-cum-godown near Vadodara on Tuesday night, he said.

The official said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the accused were manufacturing MD drug, a narcotic, under the guise of manufacturing chemicals legally.

Without giving further details, he said that the operation to bust the entire network was still on.

Officials had earlier said that in August this year, the ATS seized over 200 kg of party drug mephedrone, worth about Rs 1,000 crore, from a warehouse near Vadodara city.
