Gujarat: Acting role for 3-year-old used as bait to dupe her mother | Surat News – Times of India

SURAT: Cyber ​​crime police booked two persons including a woman on Friday based on an allegation of cheating of Rs 3.1 lakh filed by a woman from Katargam area.
The accused allegedly took the complainant Toral Navadiya’s money promising to provide her daughter roles in television serials and movies.
The victim told the police she contacted the accused after visiting their Facebook page.
Police booked Nidhi Kapoor and Saurav Shrivas for allegedly duping Navadiya, wife of a diamond businessman. The fraud started on January 7 and in the past few weeks duo collected the amount on the pretext of various charges and did not provide her with any acting offer.
Police investigation revealed that the victim came to know about accused Nidhi Kapoor’s Facebook page in which an acting career was offered. She contacted the numbers provided and shared her contact details.
“The complainant was looking for acting opportunities for her three-year-old daughter. She noticed the page on the social media site and contacted the accused,” said an officer of the cyber crime police station.
Later, the accused started demanding money for various charges and Navadiya too paid without having any doubts. She had made the payments online when she recently realized that this could be a fraud.
“As her daughter did not get any acting offer, the woman realized that she had been cheated. Police have started an investigation by collecting details of the Facebook account and mobile phone numbers,” the officer added.
