Very few people know about Jamdeshji Tata, the father of Indian industry and the biggest donor of the century, that he was a resident of Navsari in South Gujarat. Here his birthplace has been given the shape of a ‘museum’. Where things from the lineage of the Tata family to the progress that have witnessed the group’s journey are on display.

The museum was opened to the general public on his birthday on 3 March 2014. Since then in these 7 years only 4300 people have come to see his legacy. Only 30 people arrived in June 2021. Thus the average museum visitors is only one person. This museum was also completely closed in March 2020 due to the Corona crisis.

The room containing his birthplace, the Tata family list, tableaux through photographs, old utensils are kept in the museum. Jamdeshji spent 22 years traveling abroad in the life of 65 years. He breathed his last in Germany on 19 May 1904.

Revenge for the insult of British by making Taj Hotel
The Taj Hotel in Mumbai is included in the World Heritage. Jamdeshji himself had built it. Actually, some arrogant British then publicly insulted Jamdeshji in a hotel. To this, he got the Taj Hotel built. The British had said- ‘We do not allow Indians to come here.’
