Grammys 2022: Stewart Copeland, Ricky Cage and Lahiri Music nominated for their album, Divine Tides

Indian music composer and Grammy winner Ricky Cage and rock-legend Stewart Copeland (The Police) have been nominated for their latest album Divine Tides at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. The album is produced by Lahiri Music.

Featuring artists from around the world, the current Grammy nominated music album Divine Tides is a tribute to the grandeur of our natural world and the resilience of our species. The critically acclaimed album includes 9 songs and 8 music videos that were filmed around the world, from the quintessential beauty of the Indian Himalayas to the snowy jungles of Spain. Divine Tides has already won many awards at various festivals around the world.

This isn’t the first time Ricky Cage has been nominated for a Grammy. As for the Unversed, their previous Grammy Award win came in 2015 for the album Winds of Sansar. Based on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, the album was a smash success and debuted at number 1 on the US Billboard New Age album chart, a first for a man of Indian origin. Ricky is the youngest person in India to win a Grammy Award and only the fourth Indian. Meanwhile, 5-time Grammy Award winner Stewart Copeland is the founder and drummer of the famous British rock group ‘The Police’.

Talking about his Grammy nomination, Ricky Cage said, “It is an absolute honor to be nominated for a second Grammy Award for our album Divine Tides. Though my music is cross-cultural, it has always had strong Indian roots and I am extremely proud that Indian music has been recognized and shortlisted for this prestigious award by The Recording Academy. This nomination further encourages me and strengthens my belief in continuing to pursue music that can inspire a positive social impact. I’d like to thank the Recording Academy for this nomination, my colleague Stewart Copeland for the best musical experience of my life, all my fellow artists and everyone else who made the album Divine Tides possible.

Meanwhile, Stewart Copeland also spoke with Ricky about making the album, saying, “One day during Apocalypse I got a call from Ricky Cage about making an album. He drew foreign references to his inspired production style. , had gathered an amazing collection of foreign musicians, or maybe I should say deeply traditional musicians. The flow of ideas quickly became the stream of recording and music. Spiritual atmosphere (not something I am generally known for) infused my aggression with a loving obsession with inanimate objects. Timpani were playing! Puppets were singing! Making this record has been a unique adventure both in music and in divine awareness.”

Lahiri Velu, Director Lahiri Music spoke about the Grammy nomination and shared, “It’s a huge honor to be nominated for a Grammy Award for our album ‘Divine Tides’. It’s like “Ricky Cage” and “Stewart Copeland”. It is the hard work of an extraordinary collaboration between musical talents. Lahiri Music has always supported great artists to entertain music lovers across the globe. Now is the time to attract Indian artistes and Indian music to audiences across the globe. I want to thank the Recording Academy for this nomination for this great collaborative work.”
