Grammys 2022: India’s Ricky Cage and Police co-founder Stewart Copeland win Best New Age Album award

Bengaluru-based musician and environmentalist Ricky Cage won his second Grammy for his new age album ‘Divine Tides’ alongside founder and drummer Stewart Copeland of renowned rock band, The Police. They won the award in the Best New Age Album category. The qualified dentist-turned-musician, who has also done ad jingles and penned the scores of several Kannada films, greeted the audience as he stepped onto the stage at the MGM Grand Marquee Ballroom. Las Vegas.

He won his first Grammy in 2015 for his album ‘Winds of Sansar’, when famed Hollywood musician Hans Zimmer did not congratulate him. Born in North Carolina in 1981, Cage, according to his biography, is half-Punjabi, half-Marwari, and has lived in Bengaluru since the age of 8. He attended Bishop Cotton School in Bangalore before finishing college with a degree in Dentistry.

But music was his first love, and he started out as a keyboardist with the progressive rock band Angel Dust before becoming a full-time jingle musician and green cause advocate.
