Addressing a press briefing, Textiles Secretary Rachna Shah shared that the move, which is part of the Rs 1,480-crore National Technical Textiles Mission, is aimed at creating a skilled workforce in the technical textiles sector and training students in the sector. To encourage industry.

The guidelines cover funding for upgradation/enhancement of laboratory equipment, training of laboratory personnel and specialized training of faculty members of the relevant department/specialization in the university/institute in respect of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) degrees. program.

“It will also cover public-funded institutions and private institutions with NIRF rankings. 20 crore for PG course and up to 10 crore at UG level can be given assistance to start full course in technical textile. At the UG level, offering one compulsory subject and some electives, a grant of up to 7.5 crore can be given,” said an official statement.

Ministry of Textiles has approved two guidelines – ‘General Guidelines for Enabling Educational Institutions in Technical Textiles – for Private and Public Institutions’ and ‘General Guidelines for Grant-in-aid for Internship in Technical Textiles (GIST)’ – Flagship Program Under the National Technical Textiles Mission.
