New Delhi: The government has sanctioned Rs 1,523 crore for procurement of state-of-the-art weapons and improvement in IT infrastructure. Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), including: CRPF And B S fin the next five years.

The scheme will equip the CAPFs with state-of-the-art weapons and equipment as per their operational requirement, keeping in mind their deployment pattern in different theatres, adding that advanced IT solutions will also be provided.
This will boost the government’s ability to meet challenges in various theaters such as the LWE areas, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh and insurgency-affected Northeast states along the International Border, LoC, LAC, the statement said.
CAPFs include CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NSG and Assam Rifles.
The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is mostly deployed for internal security duties and fighting terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Border Security Force (BSF) guards India’s border with Pakistan and Bangladesh, besides often handling internal security functions.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) guards critical installations such as nuclear projects, airports and metro networks.
The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) guards the Indo-China border.
The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) guards India’s borders with Nepal and Bhutan while the National Security Guard (NSG) is the country’s elite commando force to deal with any emergency security situation.
The Assam Rifles has been deployed for counter-insurgency operations along the Indo-Myanmar border and in the Northeast.
