Governor Not Above Constitution, Says New Cpm State Party Secy | Thiruvananthapuram News – Times of India

Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary M V Govindan has said the party has never said the performance of the state ministers was bad. “There needs some rectifications which the party will execute,” said Govindan in his first press conference after assuming charge as the state secretary of the party.
Asked about the induction of new ministers into the cabinet, Govindan said, “The party will take a decision on this at the most appropriate time.”
On the government’s standoff with the governor, he said, “A governor can act only according to the Constitution, and he should be aware that he is not above the Constitution. The governor will have to act as per the Constitution and there will be no crisis ahead. He is being criticised when he refuses to do so.”
He said the government does not see any crisis ahead and it is well capable of overcoming any crisis. “We have been witnessing what the BJP at the Centre is doing to silence the opposition in various states. We have seen this in Maharshatra, Bihar and in New Delhi of late. The same attempt is being tried in Kerala too. The RSS and the BJP are targeting Kerala now. Hence, there will be several attempts to destabilize the government and this will be done from several quarters,” Govindan said.
As the new party secretary he is not facing any immediate challenges and the major task before him will be to equip the part of the ensuing Lok Sabha election. The party will have put up impressive performance this time, he said.
He also had a word of caution of the Congress and said the soft Hindutva policy of the Congress was not capable enough to handle the communal forces in the country.
