New Delhi: Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on Wednesday unveiled a national single window System to make approvals easier for businesses. The platform will have 18 central departments and nine states offering approval with more agencies to come on board in the coming months.
“It is freedom from bureaucracy and from windows within windows. This is a big step towards ease of doing Business. No one wants to be a hindrance to doing business… This platform is an enabler for businesses,” he said at an event for the soft launch of the platform. Goyal Another 14 departments of the central government and five state boards may come up in the next few months.
Through the portal, businesses can also conduct video consultations with executives, which can be recorded, and will provide transparency in transactions. Though the government did not specify this, transactions done through the platform can help pinpoint the particular agencies or authorities that are holding the approval. The minister further said that there is no pressure on any department or state to come on board or specify timelines. He said that some states have decided to fix a time limit for approval after which it will be considered approved.
