Government not taking decisions in time: Union minister Nitin Gadkari | India News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Union minister Nitin Gadkari has fired a salvo at the Centre stating that the “government is not taking decisions in time”.
During an event in Mumbai on August 21, the transport minister said: “Time is the most important thing in construction. Time is the biggest capital. The biggest problem is the government is not taking decisions in time.”

Party leaders, however, were quick to clarify that Gadkari’s statements were not for any particular government, but for governments in general.
A few hours after his decision comment, Gadkari, at an event in Nagpur, credited BJP‘s rise to power to Atal Bihari Vajpayee, LK Advani and Deendayal Upadhyaya.

Referring to Vajpayee’s speech at the BJP’s 1980 conclave in Mumbai, Gadkari said: “Atalji had said that the darkness will disappear, the Sun will come out and the lotus (BJP’s poll symbol) will bloom one day … the leaders and workers did such a work that today we are in power under Modi’s leadership.”
‘Delay by bureaucrats’
At a book launch on August 23, Gadkari again flagged how delay in decision making by bureaucrats cost dear to people and investors. “People who get salary on the 1st day of every month won’t understand the importance of time and the impact of delayed decision making.
Gadkari, an outspoken BJP stalwart who enjoys good relations with leaders across the political spectrum, was dropped from the party’s Parliamentary Board last week.
Last month, the minister had declared that he sometimes felt like quitting politics as there is more to life. He also lamented that politics, nowadays, was more about staying in power than being a vehicle for social change.
