Government hikes paddy MSP by Rs 100 per quintal for 2022-23 – Times of India

New Delhi: The government on Wednesday increased it Minimum Support Price (MSP) of paddy field 100 to Rs 2,040 per quintal for the 2022-23 crop year.
cabinet committee on economic affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved the increase in MSP for all mandatory Kharif (summer) crops for the 2022-23 crop year.
“In today’s cabinet meeting, the MSP of 14 Kharif crops has been approved,” the Information and Broadcasting Minister said. Anurag Thakur told reporters.
The MSP of common variety of paddy has been increased from Rs 1,940 last year to Rs 2,040 per quintal for the 2022-23 crop year.
The support price of ‘A’ grade variety of paddy has been increased from Rs 1,960 to Rs 2,060 per quintal.
Paddy is the main crop of Kharif, sowing of which has started. The Meteorological Department has forecast a normal monsoon for the June-September period.
The minister also highlighted several programs launched by the Modi government during the last eight years to increase the income of farmers and ensure comprehensive development of the agriculture sector.
