Government and Maruti join hands to start Road Safety Centre. Gurgaon News – Times of India

Gurgaon: State Transport Department has started road safety in the center Faridabad To create awareness and coordinate efforts to reduce the road accidents. The initiative has been launched in association with the automobile giant Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL).
According to the Transport Department, the Model Road Safety Knowledge Center will help in imparting knowledge of basic road etiquette and safe driving habits to new license seekers and the general public. Officials said they hoped that the move would not only help the government educate motorists but also implement evidence-based strategies to reduce the incidence of road accidents in the state.
“Road safety is an ongoing national concern. In line with the country’s goal of reducing accidents, Haryana It has also set a target to reduce road accidents by more than half by 2030. For this, every commuter will have to make road safety their responsibility, only then we will be able to realize the dream of accident-free Haryana. This road safety knowledge center will play a vital role in making this possible,” said principal secretary (transport) Shatrujit Kapoor.
MSIL Executive Director Rahul Bharti said, “Maruti Suzuki is delighted to partner with Haryana Transport Department in this life saving initiative. We are committed to encourage safe driving behavior among road users in the state. At Maruti Suzuki, we are taking a holistic approach to road safety from vehicle design to road safety education. More than 80% of road accidents in India are due to human error. We hope this model will develop the practice of safe driving behavior.”
Apart from starting the Road Safety Knowledge Center, the government also released Haryana Driving Manual and Sadak Sansar Book. According to the officials this book is divided into chapters like Safe and Responsible Driving, Renewal of Driving License, Rules of the Road, Traffic Signs and Road Signs.
