Google’s flagship Pixel phones may not come to India – Times of India

Google Just dropped a big teaser on what to expect from it Pixel 6 series of smartphones. Among other things, the Pixel 6 series will be powered by Google’s own processor instead of Qualcomm’s. Google hasn’t confirmed, but it looks like India may again miss the flagship Pixel phone. according to a report from 9to5googleAfter its launch later this year, only 8 countries will get Pixel phones. The eight countries are Canada, Australia, US, UK, France, Germany, Japan and Taiwan.
India isn’t on this list right now and it’s not surprising if the phones don’t arrive later either. For the past two years, Google has not launched its ‘premium’ Pixel phones in the country. Rather, it has focused on the affordable premium phone, the Pixel ‘a’ series.
At the launch of the previous generation Pixel phones, Google had said that there was a certain technology – Project Soli – that was not approved in India. We are not sure what could be the reason this time. Google’s strategy for India has been to target the affordable premium segment rather than the premium segment.
As far as the Pixel 6 series is concerned, the phone is expected to launch in September or October this year. The phones will be powered by Tensor, Google’s first custom-built SoC exclusively for Pixel phones. Talking about the design and camera of the phone, Rick OsterlohoGoogle, Senior Vice President, Devices and Services, said, “These new phones redefine what it means to be a Pixel. From a new design that combines the same aesthetic in software and hardware with Android 12, the new Tensor SoC As of now, everything about using the Pixel is better.”
Google has also upgraded the rear camera system. “The improved sensor and lens are now too large to fit into the traditional class – so the new design gives the entire camera system a new home with a camera bar,” Osterloh said in a blog post.
