Google will donate 30,000 Pixel phones; Refugees from 2 countries will benefit

New Delhi: Google CEO Sundar Pichai has made a big announcement of donating 30,000 Pixel phones to Ukrainian and Afghan refugees landing in the United States. Additionally, the CEO of the search giant has announced USD 1 million each in search advertising and grants. According to reports, Pichai is making this contribution under the Welcome.US CEO Council. According to Mashable, Pichai has shared a tweet confirming this news from his official Twitter handle.

Sundar Pichai’s tweet read, “Tools like Google Translate help refugees communicate with their new communities. Furthermore, the company revealed through an official blog post that Sundar Pichai has donated 30,000 Pixel phones to refugees. The first 17 beneficiaries of the Google Ukraine Aid Fund were confirmed in May this year. Recipients will receive financial support and advice from the search giant to start their own startups. The blog post also added, “YouTube is partnering with UNHCR and Welcome.US to raise awareness of the scale of communities affected by the refugee crisis, from Syria to Venezuela to the Democratic Republic of Congo, and To support refugee resettlement around the world.”

It seems that Google is trying to provide all kinds of assistance to refugees and help them grow in a new country. It will be interesting to see what else Google will add to improve support in the coming months.
