Google may bring tap-to-transfer feature with Android 13 – Times of India

As Android 12 Ongoing, reports are pouring in about the expected features of the next Android Operating System. According to a new report, Google Working on tap-to-transfer feature for media Android 13,
Android Police has reportedly received a UI demo to show off a new “Media TTT” feature that is debuting with Android 13. These demos are said to have been prepared by Google.
With the new feature, devices running Android 13 will be able to transfer media from their phones to nearby speakers or any other device by simply approaching that source. It will show a ‘chip’ notification on the top of the phone’s display as the user accesses a compatible source. There will also be an ‘Undo’ button to reverse the transfer if it happens by mistake.
This feature will work in the same way as is currently available on iPhone and HomePod devices. On Apple devices, the feature works using the U1 chip. It has started appearing on some Android devices like Pixel 6 Pro and flagship phones from Samsung. But it is far from mass adoption.
There is a possibility that Google may use NFC for the upcoming feature. It is not yet clear whether the feature will work with all Android devices, speakers, TVs and smartwatches, or only some of them.
The Android 13 platform is also expected to offer major improvements in audio streaming via Bluetooth. Google has merged the LE audio codec (LC3) and added it to the system settings as a new option. When connecting to an audio device, the codec will take top priority, meaning supported devices will attempt to establish a LE audio connection before any other, reports Android Police.
