They believe that AI is the most profound technology that humanity is currently working on because it is the essence of what intelligence is and what humanity is.

Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai has said that artificial intelligence (AI) will be as important to human history as fire or electricity.

He believes that AI is the most profound technology that humanity is currently working on because it is the essence of what intelligence is and what humanity is. In a recent interview with CBS’s 60 Minutes, Pichai said it was important to make sure AI models weren’t trained only with engineers.

“I’ve always thought of AI as the most profound technology humanity is working on—much deeper than fire or electricity or anything we’ve done in the past,” Pichai said in an interview that aired Sunday.

He explained that the role of other disciplines is important in order to develop strong AI models that are more human-like.

“So I think there is a need to involve not only engineers but also social scientists, ethicists, philosophers etc. in its development,” he said. But for the whole society.

The recent surge in competition in the field of artificial intelligence, led by people like ChatGPT, is prompting technology companies like Google to accelerate the launch of their own products after years of research and development.

Pichai has been making this comparison for the past five years and has compared the advantages and disadvantages of AI to the ancient discovery of fire.

While AI has the potential to be capable of far more than anything we’ve ever seen before, Pichai acknowledges that there are some concerns to be addressed. He explains that like fire, AI can be dangerous and has the potential to cause harm.

He emphasizes that the development of AI should not be the responsibility of engineers alone, but should also involve social scientists, ethicists, philosophers, and other experts.

Pichai believes that society as a whole must answer questions about how to develop AI in a way that is beneficial to all.
