Google Adding ‘Alt text’ In Image Options Sidebar Of Docs, Sheets

New Delhi: Google has announced that it is adding an ‘Alt Text’ option to the ‘Image options’ sidebar of Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings. In Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drawings, users currently add alt text to pictures by right-clicking on the image and choosing ‘Alt Text’, which opens a box where they can input text.

“Starting this week, we’re adding this feature to the ‘Image Options’ sidebar to make it more searchable,” the tech giant said in a Workspace Updates blogpost.

In addition, the company said that reps need to review existing reps as well as add new reps by July 31, or else reps will lose access to manage contacts. Admins can also make these adjustments for users in their domain by using the Admin SDK API to remove and re-add the Contact Delegation privilege.

Earlier this month, the tech giant announced that it was revamping the “first open experience” in Docks on Android devices. The Docs app will now start in Edit mode.

“Additionally, the formatting toolbar will be more visible, you’ll see an eye-beam cursor, and a single tap will reveal the on-screen keyboard, unless a physical keyboard is attached,” the company said.

Apart from this, the tech giant had also announced the option to insert a link in Google Sheets and press the Tab key to convert the link into a smart chip. Users can use this feature when they copy and paste email addresses or links to Drive files, map locations or YouTube videos into a sheet.

Meanwhile, last month, Google announced that it was making ‘Paginated Mode’ the default on Docs for Android. It sets up Google Docs with pages and page breaks in the app, enabling a more cohesive visual design between web and mobile.
