Korean actors Gong Yoo and Song Hye Kyo will reportedly come together for a new show for screenwriter No Hee Kyung.

In a piece of happy news for K-drama fans, popular actor Gong Yoo is gearing up for his next show, a modern historical drama opposite actress Song Hye Kyo. While Gong Yoo is in discussions to take on the lead role, the new project will be penned by acclaimed scriptwriter No Hee Kyung alongside his Coffee Prince director Lee Yoon Jung. According to a Soompi report, the Squid Game actor’s agency Management SOOP confirmed the same, stating that he is presently reviewing the script.

“It is true that Gong Yoo has received an offer for No Hee Kyung’s new project. He is currently reviewing it,” the statement read.

In the meantime, while No Hee Kyung’s new project will be a modern historical drama about people in the entertainment industry, actress Song Hye Kyo has also been confirmed to be in talks to star in the series opposite Gong Yoo.

The drama will capture the passion of those who passed through a struggling historical tunnel, experiencing the birth of South Korea’s entertainment industry. A Korean media outlet OSEN also reported on the matter, stating that it will be made on a massive production cost and will have a run of 20-24 episodes.

While these updates are enough to raise excitement among fans, considering such remarkable artists coming together, a formal announcement is still awaited.

While Noh Hee Kyung is known for penning hit shows like It’s Okay, director Lee Yoon Jung has also helmed some successful projects, including Gong Yoo starrer Coffee Prince beside Cheese in the Trap and The Lies Within. On the other hand, the acclaimed filmmaker has previously collaborated with Song Hye Kyo in the 2008 drama Worlds Within and the 2013 drama That Winter, the Wind Blows.
