Gold rose by Rs 14; Silver jumps Rs 98

According to HDFC Securities, gold prices on Monday rose marginally by Rs 14 to Rs 45,080 per 10 grams in the national capital, supported by the rupee. In the previous trade, this precious metal had closed at Rs 45,066 per 10 grams. Silver also rose by Rs 98 to Rs 58,890 per kg from Rs 58,792 per kg in the previous trade.

The Indian rupee lost 34 paise to close at 73.82 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday.

In the international market, gold was trading marginally lower at USD 1,753 an ounce and silver at USD 22.47 an ounce.

According to Tapan Patel, Senior Analyst (Commodities), HDFC Securities, “Gold prices declined marginally at $1,753 an ounce on COMEX on Monday. Gold prices traded under pressure from a stronger dollar. ”
