The RPF has handed over the seized jewelery and the accused to the GST department. Meanwhile, a person with 2 bags entered the station premises from gate number 11. Suspecting the man’s activity, the RPF stopped him and started interrogation. After this, when his bag was searched, the RPF was also surprised. The bag was filled with gold and silver jewellery. The said person was taken into custody after satisfactory reply and not showing valid documents regarding the jewellery.

During investigation, 3.100 kg of silver and 1.940 kg of gold jewelery were recovered from him. The value of the seized jewelery is stated to be 91 lakh 91 thousand. During interrogation, he revealed his name as Rajat Gupta (43) son Satya Prakash Gupta, resident of Howrah district, 249/H 5th floor Triveni Manson located on GT Road of Lilua police station area.

The accused disclosed that he had illegally brought the jewelery from Bada Bazar in Kolkata to Bhadrak town in Odisha by 02703 Up Falaknama Express. On information, a team led by Deputy Commissioner of GST Department Shantanu Bhowmik also reached Howrah station. The RPF handed over the seized jewelery and the detained person to the GST Department for further action.
