Canacona: After the rescue operation canacona Police and Canacona firefighters fail to locate 52-year-old Maya Pagi Mother The body of the deceased Ankita Polji (26) was found hanging from a tree behind her house on Monday morning in Tamnem, Poinginim on Sunday night.
Police reached the spot and recovered his body which was handed over to his family after interrogation and postmortem at South Goa District Hospital, Margao. However, Ankita’s body has been preserved for post-mortem in the presence of the sub-divisional magistrate as she died within seven years of marriage.
The police said that there was no malpractice in the case as Maya’s autopsy showed that she died of suffocation after hanging.
PI Praveen Gavas said Maya tried to end her life at the Goa Medical College and Hospital a fortnight ago, when she was taking care of her husband, who was admitted to the hospital due to a paralytic stroke. Police said they were later told that she was going through depression.
Ankita’s body was found floating in the backyard drain of her mother’s house on Sunday evening.
Police have registered a case of unnatural death of Maya under the provisions of CrPC.
