Goa: Mission Rabies’ Static Point Vaccine Drive from Sept 28 | Goa News – Times of India

Panaji: mission rabies To ensure that people vaccinate their pet dogs and continue to keep the virus at bay, a stable point in Goa is launching a rabies vaccination campaign. The campaign will be run for two weeks in government veterinary hospitals and dispensaries besides major sub-centres across the state and will be conducted every year thereafter.
The campaign will be launched on World Rabies Day on 28 September, and will run till 14 October. The program proposed for the campaign will focus on one taluka per day.
“The Steady Point Rabies Vaccination Campaign is only for owned dogs, which will be free of cost. We will also join hands with NGOs and animal rescuers across Goa to help us with the campaign,” said Julie Corfmat, Mission Rabies Project Manager said.
For campaign awareness, the education team will use various channels like social media, posters and speaker vehicles that will make announcements in panchayat and municipal areas.
He previously campaigned in Africa, where he holds the record for vaccinating 800 dogs in a matter of hours, making 200 vaccine administrations every hour.
In view of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Mission Rabies team said that they will take safety measures as per government norms.
TOI had reported on June 23 that Goa has achieved rabies-controlled state status. As of June 2021, Goa has recorded zero cases of human rabies for more than three years. In addition, only eight dog-mediated rabies cases were reported in the first six months of this calendar year. Thus, Goa became the first state to be controlled by human rabies.
