Goa: GFP issues show cause notice to its MLA for ‘anti-party activities’, ‘linkage with BJP’

The Goa Forward Party (GFP) on Thursday issued a show-cause notice to its MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar, accusing him of indulging in “anti-party activities” and “constant friendship” with the BJP, which governs the state. The notice comes amid reports that Salgaokar is set to join the BJP on Friday and end his four-and-a-half-year-long stint with the GFP as an MLA from North Goa’s Saligao constituency.

Assembly elections in Goa are due early next year. The notice issued to Salgaonkar read, “It is in the context of your behavior and conduct, which has made it necessary to issue this show cause notice, so that any response, if any, may be obtained from you.” However, when contacted, Salgaonkar denied indulging in any anti-party activities and said that he has not received any show cause notice from his party.

In the notice, GFP said that for the past few months, the party has been receiving reports from its workers in Saligao and from local party leaders “about your persistent anti-party activities”.
