Goa: Electricity department will introduce smart bill soon : Minister Nilesh Cabral | Goa News – Times of India

Porvorim: Minister of Power Nilesh Kabrala On Friday, he said that smart electricity bills would be introduced in the state soon.
“The smart bill is under consideration,” he said, adding that cabinet members have seen the presentation.
Cabral also asked the cabinet members to suggest a draft policy for electric vehicles, which has been uploaded on the website, before it is sent to the finance department. As per the policy, electric two wheelers will be cheaper than petrol/diesel ones.
Smart bill will be generated every month on a particular day.
Responding to demands, Cabral He said that during the pandemic there was delay in issuing electricity bills as meter readers had to go to every house. He clarified that the bill can be given after a month, it is generated every month.
Cabral assured the members of the House of improving the power infrastructure in the state. At present, 35% of Goa has underground cabling and 60% of the cables will go underground once the existing work is completed, the power minister said, adding that the remaining amount will be taken up later.
He also said that the state government will replace 11,000 agricultural five star rated pumps free of cost from August 15.
Cabral said that in areas where there is no grid connectivity, it has been decided to give 90 percent subsidy on buying pumps.
Speaking on environmental demands, Cabral said that the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) refused to draft Coastal Zone Management Plan That is why the National Center for Sustainable Coastal Management (NCSCM) was approached.
PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar on Friday said that the state is facing water shortage of 76 million liters per day (MLD) in all 12 talukas and 40 constituencies. He said that the state needs 600 MLD of water, but only 527 MLD can be treated. He said that a new water treatment plant would be set up to meet this shortfall.
Responding to the demands, Pauskar said that Rs 300 crore is being spent to replace water pipelines in the state.
