Former MLA Isidore Fernandes has already decided to support the government. “My priority would be to be with the party that forms the government because a lot of work needs to be done in Canacona,” he said. “My constituency has remained backward and not much could be done in the last term due to paucity of funds,” he said.
In 2017, three independent MLAs were elected – Prol MLA Govind Gowde, former Porvorim MLA Rohan Khunte and former Sangum MLA Prasad Gaonkar. All three extended support to the Parrikar-led BJP coalition government.
