Goa elections: BJP spreading rumors about rift in TMC-MGP alliance, says Deepak Dhavalikar | Goa News – Times of India

PANAJI: MGP President Deepak ‘Pandurang’ Dhavalikar on Wednesday accused BJP of spreading rumors about MGP walking out of its alliance with TMC and said the party was “scared of losing”.
Dhavalikar said the MGP-TMC alliance remains strong. The seat-sharing discussion is expected to be finalized by Thursday. “There is a fake news propaganda created by some national parties to create confusion among voters and candidates,” said Dhavalikar. “We have already declared our pre-poll alliance with TMC.”
He said the TMC-MGP alliance will announce its second list of candidates within the next 24-48 hours.
“We have given our word to TMC and we will abide by our word. This way of creating confusion and misunderstanding, and disturbing the people is the work of only those people under whose feet the land is slipping,” said Dhavalikar.
Former Panaji MLA and BJP’s IT cell convener Sidharth Kuncalienker put out a post on social media alleging a split between TMC and MGP.
“News of MGP and TMC breaking up floating around. Sure that with Devendra Fadnavis at helm of election affairs, something good is expected,” said Kuncalienker.
However, TMC and MGP have rubbished the speculation. “This is a sign that BJP is scared of losing. We will fight the elections as part of the alliance and we will form the next government,” said Dhavalikar.
Meanwhile, TMC members Agnelo Fernandes and Anthony Menezes, both of whom were earlier in Congress, countered claims that the party would split the opposition vote. Fernandes said Congress is trying to find excuses and has failed to prove its credibility. TMC inducted over 15 prominent individuals in Mapusa and over 100 supporters in Margao.
