The chief minister said around 5,000 houses were damaged in floods last month and a separate team has been formed to probe the cause.
Sawant said that after assessing the damage done to the houses, three types of damage were detected. Those whose houses have been damaged will get Rs 50,000 or Rs 1 lakh for carrying out repair work. Sawant said those who have not been called for the function will receive the check at their respective taluka headquarters.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government would take all necessary steps to avoid such calamities in future. He urged any person, who has not yet availed the relief of the State Government, to approach the authorities as the State Government does not want to deprive anyone. Sawant said he has contacted central government To get funds to provide relief to those whose agricultural activities were badly affected.
