Goa assembly elections: TMC first list of 11 names, ticket given to Rajya Sabha MP

Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro has been nominated from the Fatorda assembly constituency, which is currently represented by Goa Forward Party chief Vijay Sardesai.

The Trinamool Congress on Tuesday announced its first list of 11 candidates for the Goa Assembly elections to be held on February 14. Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro has been nominated from the Fatorda assembly constituency, which is currently represented by Goa Forward Party chief Vijay Sardesai.

According to the list, former GFP leaders Kiran Kandolkar and Jagdish Bhobe, who resigned from the Sardesai-led party on Tuesday itself, will contest from Aldona and St Andre seats respectively. Former Goa Chief Minister Churchill Alemao will contest from Benaulim and his daughter Valanka has been given ticket from Navelim.

The Trinamool Congress said that former BJP leader Sandeep Vajarkar will contest from Porvorim, Samil Volvoikar from Kumbharjua, Ganpat Gaonkar from Porim, Gilbert Mariano Rodrigues from Kortalim, Jose Raju Cabral from Nuvem and Dr Jerson Fernandes from Concolim. The Mamata Banerjee-led party is contesting for the 40-member assembly in alliance with the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP).
