Go First Pilot Blames Airline For Not Paying His Rs 1 Crore Dues, NCLT Issues Notice

The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) on Monday issued notice to low-cost airline GoFirst on a petition filed by a pilot regarding his dues, as the crisis-hit carrier seeks an early decision on its voluntary insolvency resolution plea. A two-judge bench of the NCLT, headed by Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar and a technical member LN Gupta, on Monday issued notice to the budget carrier while hearing a plea by its pilot R Dastur alleging that Rs 1 crore at low cost outstanding dues. “We issue notice and we will next hear the matter on May 17,” the NCLT bench said. GoFirst informed the NCLT Delhi that it has received notices from the lessors for termination and the lessors have also approached the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for relief.

It further said that the lessees had started encroachment when the NCLT had already taken stock of the matter. “We are not being allowed entry even to carry out our basic maintenance work,” the airline said.

The NCLT on Monday also heard a plea filed by SS Associates Services Pvt Ltd, which was providing transport services to GoFirst. This petition was about a claim of about three crore rupees. However, the NCLT did not pass any order or notice on this.

Go First also said that lessors began de-registering the carrier’s aircraft. After hearing on May 4, the tribunal had reserved its order on the budget carrier’s plea. After hearing the lawyers, who urged the NCLT to decide the issue expeditiously, the bench also agreed to consider the request of GoFirst.

GoFirst said lessors have sought de-registration of over 20 aircraft and have approached the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) after the Wadia Group airline filed its voluntary insolvency resolution petition. (ANI)
