Cash-strapped GoFirst on Thursday announced the extension of the cancellation period for its scheduled flights till July 6. The airline, which is undergoing insolvency resolution process, has stopped flying since May 3 and since then, has extended the cancellation period several times.

On Wednesday, senior representatives of the existing management of GoFirst discussed various aspects of the revival plan with officials of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

The budget carrier said in a tweet, “…due to operational reasons, all GoFirst flights scheduled through July 6, 2023 have been cancelled.” The company has filed an application for immediate resolution and revival of operations. “We will be able to resume bookings soon,” the airline said.

Sources said on Wednesday that the DGCA would examine the documents submitted by GoFirst related to the revival plan and also conduct an audit on operational preparedness before allowing the carrier to resume operations.

The revival process gained momentum after the airline’s committee of creditors (CoC) comprising Bank of Baroda, Central Bank of India, IDBI Bank and Deutsche Bank was formed on June 10.

Sources had said that lenders have committed interim funding of around Rs 450 crore, while day one operations are expected to cost around Rs 10 crore.
